Oklahoma Film and Music Day at the Capitol Returns April 7 to Spotlight Industries

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in partnership with Cherokee Film, the Oklahoma City Film & Creative Industries Office and the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture, is proud to present Oklahoma Film and Music Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, April 7, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the second-floor rotunda of the Oklahoma State Capitol. This FREE event will bring together state legislators, local film and music professionals, businesses and related organizations to highlight the impact of the state’s film and music industries.

“Oklahoma Film and Music Day at the Capitol is more than a celebration—it’s a meaningful opportunity for our local professionals to highlight the depth of talent and the real economic and cultural impact of our state’s film and music industries,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “Participation in this event underscores the strength, collaboration and momentum driving film and music in Oklahoma, and it reinforces the importance of continued investment in these growing industries. We’re incredibly grateful to the partners, vendors, workforce and talent who make this showcase possible.”

Following opening remarks from Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell and Cherokee Nation Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner among others, the event will kick off with a special performance of the National Anthem by country singer Krystal Keith, daughter of the internationally acclaimed music icon and Oklahoma’s own Toby Keith.

“I’m proud to kick off the 2026 Oklahoma Film and Music Day at the Capitol,” said Pinnell. “Oklahoma continues to build on its momentum as a top destination for film and music production, with strong growth in jobs, wages and industry investment. From major productions to homegrown artists, these industries are creating opportunities in every corner of our state. Film and music are ideal industries for Oklahoma, and their impact is being felt across all 77 counties.”

Live music from Oklahoma artists will be featured throughout the day, including Tulsa’s own Joleen Brown, whose folk/Americana/Red Dirt influenced sound was featured in Sterlin Harjo’s locally produced FX television series “The Lowdown,” and the silky, sweet R+B influenced sounds of Ellessee, who was recently one of the featured performers at Factory Obscura’s Future of Sound Festival. Oklahoma City University’s Blackwelder Brass will also perform a special rendition of “Oklahoma.”

In addition to special film and music props on display from OKPOP, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and others, more than 55 exhibitors will be on display with booths representing Oklahoma’s robust film and music sectors. Among them are organizations specializing in career development opportunities, workforce training, business services, community resources and more, including the event’s hotel partner Champion Hotels, as well as national and regional organizations, including the Recording Academy, the Location Managers Guild, SAG-AFTRA and more.

“This year marks our third consecutive year participating in the film and music initiative at the Capitol, and each year has further underscored the value of this platform and the meaningful connections it fosters,” said Champion Hotels Corporate Director of Sales Mike Farney. “The relationships and partnerships we have developed through this initiative have played a vital role in our continued growth and our ability to serve the industry at the highest level. With more than 60 locations across the state, Champion Hotels is proud to support Oklahoma’s dynamic film and television industry. We believe in Oklahoma and in the enduring impact of its film and television industry, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration and contributing to the economic vitality of communities across the state for years to come.”
