Oklahoman native to Tulsa Jim Halsey will be honored on June 2 by the Country Music Association (CMA) with the CMA Touring Lifetime Achievement Award. While the ceremony will take place in Nashville, Oral Roberts University’s Mabee Center in Tulsa will host a special simulcast event, An Evening with Impresario Jim Halsey. The ceremony and concert will be on June 2 at 7 p.m.
This award recognizes Halsey’s achievements in the music industry both nationally and locally. His impact reached many artists during his time, over thirty of whom were eventually inducted into the County Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Halsey has been in the music industry for over sixty years, having managed a variety of artists during his career, including Hank Thompson, Roy Clark, Reba McEntire, Merle Haggard and The Oak Ridge Boys.
The concert and ceremony will also serve as a fundraiser for a scholarship program to honor Halsey’s legacy and to support Oklahoma students pursuing a music career. The event will also include a silent auction and live performances from Oklahoma artists who were managed or represented by Halsey. Jana Jae, Shelby Eicher, Don White, Kyle Dillingham, Alaska & Madi and Leona Mitchell will perform and the evening will be emceed by Tulsa historian and author John Wooley.
