Sponsored by the Oklahoma Film + Music Office and Brut Hotel, the next session of The Soundup Roundup, a unique songwriter’s round, will be on May 27 at 7 p.m. at The Church Studio in Tulsa.
Voth, the Tulsa native sibling music trio behind this series, created this event with a desire to bring the Nashville experience to their hometown. Since its inception last year, The Soundup Roundup has featured over a dozen songwriters in an intimate writer’s round style performance creating one-of-a-kind experiences for attendees where the artist shares the story behind the song before performing it live.
May’s artist lineup includes:
Kent Blazy is a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee and one of country music’s most respected hitmakers. Best known for his long-running creative partnership with Garth Brooks, Blazy co-wrote Brooks’ first No. 1 hit, “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” along with classics like “Ain’t Goin’ Down (’Til the Sun Comes Up),” “Somewhere Other Than the Night,” “It’s Midnight Cinderella” and “Beer Run.” His catalogue includes seven No. 1 hits, with songs recorded by Reba McEntire, Diamond Rio and Patty Loveless.
Mark Irwin is a hit Nashville songwriter whose songs have become part of the country music soundtrack. He co-wrote Alan Jackson’s first No. 1 hit, “Here in the Real World,” a CMA and ACM Song of the Year nominee and winner of the Music City News Song of the Year Award. Additional credits include “Highway Don’t Care” (Tim McGraw), “Neon Light” (Blake Shelton) and additional chart toppers from acts like Faith Hill and Martina McBride.
Voth is a Tulsa-born sibling music trio made up of Caleb, Hannah and Cody Voth, blending tight family harmonies, country roots and heartfelt songwriting into an unmistakable sound. Formerly based in Nashville and signed to Warner Chappell Music, Voth has shared stages with Diamond Rio, Riley Green, Walker Hayes and Carly Pearce, with appearances on WSM Radio and Circle TV. Now back home in Tulsa, Voth continues building songs and stories rooted in family, faith and real life. Their latest album, Memories of You, is available everywhere.
“For us, this round represents exactly why The Soundup Roundup exists,” said Caleb Voth. “Oklahoma has given country music some of its most iconic voices – Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton – and now Tulsa gets to sit in the room with two writers whose songs have been part of that larger story. Having Kent Blazy and Mark Irwin at The Church Studio is more than just a concert. It’s a reminder that great songs, and especially Oklahoma artists, are still the heartbeat of country music.”
Tickets are on sale and expected to sell out.
