Oklahoma Film + Music Office to Sponsor 2023 Circle Cinema Film Festival

The Oklahoma Film and Music Office (OF+MO), a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, is proud to be a returning sponsor of the 2023 Circle Cinema Film Festival, which will showcase the best new independent art, music and film from Oklahomans in Tulsa July 13-16, 2023.

Circle Cinema Film Festival features 25 programs with dramas, comedies, documentaries, shorts, Q&A’s and more, including this year’s two festival award winners, documentary “ᏓᏗᏬᏂᏏ (We Will Speak)” and narrative “Bug Man,” as well as the Oklahoma premiere of the locally produced film “Model House,” which utilized the state’s film incentive program administered by OF+MO.

“This year’s festival is a culmination of everything Circle has worked for,” said Chuck Foxen, Circle Cinema Deputy Director and Programmer. “We think this lineup truly speaks to Circle’s vision as a space where everyone can come together and bond through the magic of movies.”

This year’s festival is particularly special as it recognizes the 95th birthday of Circle Cinema, Tulsa’s oldest movie theater and the only nonprofit cinema. A special free birthday celebration will be held on Saturday, July 15, at noon, in recognition of Circle Cinema, which annually educates, enlightens and entertains its guests through its selected features and programs that expose and connect community to global issues, environments and cultures. This event will feature a preview of exciting announcements ahead for the organization and recognize this year’s 2023 Oklahoma Walk of Fame class in attendance, including filmmakers Crystal Kayiza, John Swab, Kyle Bell and Mickey Reece.

“We’re excited to partner with Circle Cinema Film Festival to spotlight some of Oklahoma’s incredibly talented filmmakers and creatives,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “Circle Cinema is not only a staple for the City of Tulsa, but an incredible piece of the state’s collective film community that has been a champion for our local talents for nearly a century.”
