The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning partner of the Circle Cinema Film Festival in Tulsa. Now in its eighth year, the festival will highlight Oklahoma films and filmmakers on the big screen July 11-15.
OF+MO will assist in presenting a panel on Sunday, July 13, at 2:45 p.m. titled The Director DP Dynamic. Moderated by P.J. Sosko, acclaimed actor, filmmaker and host of the podcast “Sittin’ with the Sosk” and the Circle Cinema Sandbox Series, this panel will explore the collaborative relationship between directors and directors of photography to bring films to life. Additional details and guests to be announced.
Seventy Oklahoma films and shorts will make up this year’s festival, including two films that utilized the state’s film incentive: the documentary “67 Bombs to Enid” and the narrative feature “Jurassic Games: Extinction.” Both films had a successful run last month at deadCenter Film Festival in Oklahoma City, including a Best Documentary Award win for “67 Bombs to Enid.”
Additionally, Circle Cinema will celebrate its 97th year with a celebration alongside the Walk of Fame Medallion Recipients on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 15. This year’s recipients include former Oklahoma resident and Hollywood legend Vera Miles (Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”); Tulsa filmmaker and screenwriter Hank Byrd (“Boneyard”); former actor, stuntman and rodeo cowboy and native of Pawhuska Ben Johnson (“The Last Picture Show”); and William Matthews (“Poltergeist”), a former Tulsan who served as production designer on several major films.
