Oklahoma’s renowned music venues continue to elevate the dynamic growth of the state’s music industry both locally and abroad. Recently, Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center, Durant’s Choctaw Grand Theater and Tulsa’s Cain’s Ballroom received industry recognition for their outstanding contributions to the live music ecosystem in our state.
Oklahoma was represented in three categories for the Pollstar Awards, which took place on April 16. Pollstar annually recognizes the most innovative and successful artists, tours, companies, venues and executives, and now in its 36th year, is considered among the highest honors in the live music industry. The Paycom Center in Oklahoma City was nominated for Arena of the Year alongside Madison Square Garden, The Sphere and the Moody Center. Jordan Racine, Director of Programming for The Paycom Center also received a nomination for the Rising Star Award.
Additionally, the Pollstar Awards recognized the Choctaw Grand Theater, receiving a nomination for the category of Casino/Resort Venue of the Year. Located at the Choctaw Casino and Resorts in Durant, the Choctaw Grand Theater continues to draw large crowds and top headliners year after year, recently attracting artists such as Reba McEntire and Teddy Swims to name a few.
Looking ahead, Cain’s Ballroom will be in the spotlight at the 60th Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, the longest running country music awards show, taking place this year in Frisco, TX. Nominated for ACM Club of the Year, Cain’s Ballroom is one of the longest running venues in Tulsa, first established in 1924 and continuing to support artists of all kinds in the state. Hosted by Oklahoma’s own music icon Reba McEntire, viewers can stream the ACM Awards on Amazon Prime on May 8 at 7 p.m. CST.
