The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to announce its support of The Resonance Series, presented by the University of Oklahoma (OU) Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts School of Music. With events occurring on campus November 16-18, 2025, this season’s Resonance Series will feature six-time Grammy-nominated guitarist Mike Stern alongside Leni Stern, Jimmy Haslip, Steve Pruitt and Bob Francheschini to create the Mike Stern Quintet.
Mike Stern is a six-time Grammy-nominated American jazz guitarist voted as one of Down Beat Magazine’s 75 Best Guitarists of All Time. He has performed with several famed musicians, such as Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorious, Eric Johnson and many more. Stern has released over 10 albums during his decades-long career and is still touring both nationally and internationally today.
“We are honored to host the legendary Mike Stern and his quintet,” said Eric Walschap, OU Adjunct Professor of Music and Arts Management and Resonance Series Coordinator. “As a touring partner of Miles Davis and former guitarist of Blood Sweat and Tears we look forward to providing free masterclasses, clinics, private lessons and Q&A’s to the public, as well as two concerts. His band, currently in the middle of a world tour, including dozens of countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas, combines for over 35 Grammy nominations and many wins, with members from the bands of Ceiline Dion, Paul Simon, Jennifer Lopez, Kiss, the Yellow Jackets, Snarky Puppy and more.”
Throughout the Resonance series, Mike Stern will engage in several key events over the three-day period. Remaining events include:
- Concert Performance – Sharp Concert Hall Pitman Hall, OU Campus (Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.)
- Jazz Improv Class – Catlett 014 (Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m.)
- Drumset & Bass Masterclass – Catlett 107A (Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m.)
The daytime events will be free and open to the general public to attend either in-person or with select events available via Zoom; however, preregistration is required in some cases to attend. The evening concerts require tickets that can be purchased online.
