The Oklahoma Film + Music Office Announces Partnership with Norman Music Festival

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, is proud to sponsor Norman Music Festival (NMF), which will take place in the Walker Arts District of downtown Norman, Okla., from Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27.

Now in its 16th year, NMF is a free event that annually welcomes nearly 100,000 music enthusiasts to Norman to hear both local and national musical acts alike. This year’s featured artists include Grammy-nominated indie pop band Alvvays, Blondshell, Moor Mother, Husbands, Tropa Magica, Jared Deck, Radkey, Cliffdiver, Steph Simon, Branjae, Original Flow and the Wavvez, and many more. NMF is produced by Norman Music Alliance, a volunteer-run nonprofit that aims to support local musicians. Shari Jackson, the organization’s executive director, has spent over 20 years working in nonprofit arts in Norman as an administrator, director and event producer.

“NMF brings in rising stars from across the country to put on stage alongside the unbelievably talented and diverse lineup of bands from right here in Oklahoma,” Jackson said. “If you wanna know just how cool Oklahoma is come to NMF!”

As an event sponsor, OF+MO will be hosting a “Music Festival Sustainability” panel on Wednesday, April 24, at the NMF Sound Check event. The panel will take place at The Standard in Norman and aimed toward industry members and stakeholders to learn more about music festival sustainability efforts across the state. Participants will include Stacey Harness, City of Davis Community Services Director (Turner Falls Red Dirt Festival), Shari Jackson, Norman Music Alliance Director (Norman Music Festival), Jared Deck, Oklahoma musician and House District 44 Representative and Molly O’Connor, Oklahoma Arts Council Director of Rural and Creative Community Outreach. In addition to hosting the panel, OF+MO will also serve as a band resource partner and have a presence at the artist hospitality area to share more information on state music efforts and development.

“OF+MO is thrilled to partner with Norman Music Festival this year to offer new resources to our Oklahoma music community,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “This festival offers a valuable platform to local artists and creates a unique opportunity for people to gather across the music industry.”
