The Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture (TFMAC) along with Tulsa Tourism announce a $400,000 Tulsa Film Incentive, marking the first film incentive for the city of Tulsa.
The incentive is designed to drive economic impact to Tulsa and the greater Green Country area. Stackable with the state film rebate program and other existing local film incentives, this new program is expected to attract both local and out of state productions.
Key Features of the Incentive Include:
- 5% rebate on productions with $100,000-$5,000,000 local spend
- Rebate is capped at $50,000
- Projects over $5,000,000 eligible for $75,000
Productions must take place in the Tulsa Production Zone defined as a 30-mile radius from Tulsa City Hall. The rebate is based on qualifiers including use of local music, hiring local crew, use of local vendors and production office space in the Tulsa Production Zone. Deadlines occur on a quarterly basis with the first deadline Feb. 15 and the last Oct. 15.
“The addition of this incentive to the existing Oklahoma state rebate elevates Tulsa to an even higher competitive standing as a film and television destination,” said Meg Gould, Executive Director of TFMAC. “And now we have the potential to truly become ‘Hollywood on the Prairie.’ This will help create more industry jobs in the region, growing the overall local economy and increasing Tulsa’s visibility on a global scale.”
With productions like FX’s “The Lowdown” and “Reservation Dogs” to local productions like “Horrified,” Tulsa has a flourishing film and television industry. This new film incentive reinforces the longevity of the industry in Oklahoma to filmmakers.
“Oklahoma is a valuable asset to the film and television industry,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “Boasting a low cost of living and growing infrastructure and crew base, Oklahoma offers productions a competitive option to film. It’s impressive to see these local rebate programs draw productions to the state and we are expectant to see what this new program does for Tulsa.”
Applications are now being accepted. For more information and to apply, visit Tulsa Film Incentive.
