Residing in Oklahoma City, Mallory Eagle is a rising presence in country and Americana music. Inspired by honky-tonk, country rock and bluegrass, her music pays homage to traditions with a modern flair. Originally from Nashville, she released “Red Dirt Home” in 2018, and now, back in Oklahoma, she’s released her nine-track album,”The Neon Waltz,” in early 2024. Her warm melodies offer an emotional journey, leaving a lasting impression, one trucker ballad at a time.
How did you get started?
My early influences range from bluegrass, roots classic country, blues, folk and southern rock! I was involved in many vocal competitions, musicals and choirs throughout my early schooling while also joining a bluegrass band at 17 years old. I later graduated from ACM@UCO with an associates in Vocal Performance and I am proud to say I use my degree daily in this industry. My time in school and then moving to Nashville from OKC in 2018 helped me build my first two records!
Did you always want a career in the music industry?
I have been called to share my voice and talent from the young age of six. Over the years of building my talents and skills, my dream of working in the music industry has become a reality.
What are your most recent successes / placements / accomplishments / projects and or career highlights?
I have most recently had the honor of sharing the stage with Willie Nelson at his ranch and festival, Luck Reunion, this March (2025). Also I have been touring and promoting my most recent record, The Neon Waltz, that debuted in March 2024. Opening this year for Asleep at the Wheel at Cain’s Ballroom and supporting other artists like Kelsey Waldon, Joshua Ray Walker, Jake Worthington, Jason Boland, Hannah Dasher and many others. Working currently in the building of a new body of music to deliver this year into 2026.
What is your favorite Oklahoma music venue, music store or recording studio?
Favorite venue in OKC is Beer City and Tulsa is Cain’s. Favorite music store is Trolley Stop Record Shop. My favorite recording studio is Cardinal Song in OKC.
What are some of the benefits of having a music career in Oklahoma?
One of the amazing benefits of living and working out of Oklahoma is being reconnected with my roots as well as a beautiful community. Also it helps to be afforded a low cost of living to be able to create more projects without the stressors of just day to day large living costs. I feel happy to be creating back on the Oklahoma prairie.
Networking and connecting with others who share your dream or vision is a vital aspect to the music industry. Can you share which Oklahoma organizations (if any) have contributed to your success and are there Oklahoma organization you would recommend other connect with? To help further their craft or promotion?
I have been grateful for the help of Oklahoma Opry in the building of my artistry skills and giving me many opportunities in my early booking days. I’ve also been grateful for the Oklahoma Film + Music Office for the support of promoting my music and journey. Another supporter has been The Spy and KOSU Oklahoma Rock Show. They have been so wonderful to continue to play my music on the air waves often.
Favorite quote (if applicable) and why?
“I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It’s cloud illusions I recall
I really don’t know clouds at all.”
– Joni Mitchell
It is a reminder we are all growing and learning in this life. Even the clouds don’t hold the all the answers; they just are. Releasing the worry of having to know and just being is helpful to come back to the present.
What are you working on now or next?
Currently I am building a new music project that will most likely remain an EP of four or five songs!
