City of Admore Achieves Film Friendly Community Certification

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in conjunction with the City of Ardmore and Ardmore Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce the city has achieved film friendly certification after completing the requirements for OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.

“Ardmore is very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the growing film industry here in the state of Oklahoma,” said Ardmore City Manager Kevin Boatright. “The completion of the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program will allow another avenue for the City of Ardmore to showcase the beautiful natural resources that we have and to put a spotlight on the unique local history that has created our community.”

The City of Ardmore is a historic community in Southern Oklahoma that features both small-town charm and urban amenities. Established in 1887 around the Santa Fe Railroad and once the world’s largest inland cotton market, Ardmore is conveniently located 90 minutes from both Oklahoma City and Dallas within the Chickasaw Nation on I-35, and it is the first film friendly certified community in Carter County. Serving as a regional hub for commerce and culture, Ardmore features a number of camera-ready locations and attractions, including boutique shopping; unique dining, including Two Frogs Grill and Café Alley among others; modern art at the Charles B. Goddard Center for Visual & Performing Arts; and the beautiful topography of Lake Murray State Park, the state’s largest and oldest state park that features a 5,700 acre lake, golf course, lodge, Tucker Tower Nature Center and more. Additional attractions in Ardmore include the rich history of Greater Southwest Historical Museum and the Hardy Coliseum, which annually hosts rodeos, equestrian and other community events. Ardmore’s filmography includes “Dillinger,” “Fast Charlie… the Moonbeam River,” “The Biggest Loser,” “The Lycanthrope” and more.

“We’re excited to expand Oklahoma’s Film Friendly Community Program roster to include the City of Ardmore, and we are incredibly grateful to their local leadership and businesses for their participation in showcasing the incredible assets that make their community so special,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “As the first community in Carter County to achieve this certification, we’re excited about the opportunity to further development economic growth from the motion picture industry for this region of the state.”
