The Oklahoma Film and Music Office (OF+MO), a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, is proud to be a returning partner of the 25th annual deadCenter Film Festival, which will offer screenings, panels, workshops, networking events and more throughout various locations in downtown Oklahoma City June 11-15.
As part of their partnership, OF+MO will exhibit at the festival headquarters located at Oklahoma Contemporary. This location will be the site of a number of activations, including deadCenter’s Awards Show as well as their Continuum Programming, which provides free-to-attend, educational panels related to film and music topics, including music in film, camera techniques, on-screen intimacy and more.
OF+MO is also proud to support the programming of live local music at two of the festival’s most anticipated events for passholders. Thursday night’s After Party at Bricktown Brewery will feature Sun Deep with Finite Galaxy beginning at 9 p.m. The Friday Night Frolic at Dunlap Codding on Film Row will feature The Imaginaries with special guest Makinley Paige Montez beginning at 8 p.m. Both Americana duo The Imaginaries and Hindi hip hop artist Sun Deep will also appear with selections in the festival’s music video programming block this year.
An Oscar-qualifying film festival, deadCenter is the largest event of its kind in Oklahoma promoting, encouraging and celebrating independent films both through the organization’s annual film festival and educational outreach. With over 200 films to be shown – the greatest number in the festival’s history – notable programming highlights include the premieres of several Oklahoma film productions that leveraged the state’s film incentive, including the documentary “67 Bombs to Enid” and the narrative features “Anywhere,” “Salt of the Earth,” “Jurassic Games: Extinction Rule” and “Close Enough to Burn” (formerly titled “Defiant Vanity”).
Additionally, OF+MO’s partners at One Set Studio, a state certified soundstage provider, will be hosting a brunch and learn event for festival passholders on Saturday, June 14 from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. featuring an exclusive behind-the-scenes panel with writer director Cinque Lee and producer Ann Carli of the film “A Rare Grand Alignment.” An official selection of the festival, “A Rare Grand Alignment” was produced on a volume stage utilizing the same cutting edge technology house at One Set. This panel hosted at the facility will offer a rare glimpse into the future technology of filmmaking and the role innovation techniques play in storytelling ahead of the film’s screening at the festival that evening at 8 p.m. at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
“For its silver anniversary celebrating 25 years, we’re thrilled to see such a robust lineup of programming at the deadCenter Film Festival, particularly the spotlight shown on our talented Oklahoma filmmakers, musicians and innovative technologies, which collectively play a critical role in our film and music industry eco-system in Oklahoma,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “With multiple ways to experience the festival, we hope audiences will join us in not only celebrating the festival’s legacy, but also taking advantage of the valuable educational and networking resources this event provides.”
