“Tenkiller” Completes Production in Oklahoma

Blood Relative Films, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is proud to announce the completion of principal photography on the feature film “Tenkiller”. The film began principal photography in Tahlequah on July 6 and employed an all-Oklahoma crew over the course of twenty days. The film also used locations in the surrounding area such as Cookson, Keys, Park Hill and Vian.

Written by Jeremy Choate and directed by him and his wife, Kara Choate, “Tenkiller” is inspired by the Italian neorealism movement, as the story is set among the working class, filmed on-location and features non-professional actors. This is the first full-length feature film produced by the husband and wife team under their local production company, Blood Relative Films.

“The state of Oklahoma provided the ideal locations for us to shoot ‘Tenkiller’,” said director and cinematographer Kara Choate. “We’re so thankful to have made it through the filming process, especially in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. Our close-knit group of cast and crew made this experience incredible. We’re grateful for them, along with local musicians, our family, friends and the Oklahoma Film + Music Office for supporting us.”

“It is so rewarding to see Oklahomans building upon the film infrastructure that has been growing for the past two decades,“ said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “The number of new local businesses being created to work in this industry continues to grow. We are excited to see Blood Relative Films join the host of talented production companies that are local to the state.”
